The city of Phoenix Youth and Education Office is accepting applications for the 2006-07 PAYBACK grants, which provide up to $750 to youth leaders for community service projects.

PAYBACK stands for Phoenix Assisting Youth by Advancing Civic Kindness. Applicants must be middle or high school students in Phoenix; students who don’t attend school in Phoenix must be responsible for a community service project within the Phoenix city limits. Projects should be affiliated with a non-profit organization, school group or a community service group. An adult sponsor should be available to assist with the project but adults cannot apply for the funding.

A committee made up of members of the city of Phoenix Youth and Education Commission will review applications. The first deadline to apply is March 2 with a subsequent deadline on May 4.
